Welcome to the Projects Funded section of our website. This page showcases some of the initiatives that the Spinifex Foundation SA has supported, demonstrating the transformative power that arises when philanthropy is designed and led by the very Communities it seeks to uplift.
The Story of Place grants are a key example of our impact, having continued in 2024 and creating meaningful ripples through 14 Communities across South Australia.

These engagements have sparked ideas for extending projects, fostering broader Community involvement and cultivating a renewed belief in the power of community-led initiatives.

The Healing Places grant round is the first of its kind for Spinifex Foundation SA. It seeks to support Aboriginal communities in South Australia to restore, care for, and honour their community-managed cemeteries.

We also support initiatives through Strategic Partnerships Grants. Collaborating with key partners and stakeholders Spinifex Foundation SA has supported the development of First Nations led initiatives which align with the health and wellbeing priorities identified through community engagement.

Healthy Dreaming is a prime example of this strategic support. This initiative, based in the Port Augusta region, specialises in Aboriginal Community Nursing and Aboriginal Primary Health Care. Healthy Dreaming demonstrates significant experience in navigating complex systems of care and supporting effective referrals across multi-agencies – including engagement with GPs and services in Community.

These funded projects collectively illustrate our commitment to empowering Communities and supporting self-determination, contributing to our vision of a future where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander South Australians are prosperous in all aspects of life.
