Story of Place

The Story of Place grant round provided once-off $10,000 grants as an opportunity for South Australian Aboriginal communities to tell a story in their own way about their place by coming together to connect and share in knowledge and culture to build a new community-led narrative. 

This can take many forms and could be led by a local Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation (ACCO) working alongside community members over a period of up to 12 months. Story of Place grants are intended to contribute towards improved social and emotional wellbeing through community-building. 

Through Story of Place we hope to: 

  • Bring community together and create opportunities for community to connect and share across generations and different parts of our communities through stories;
  • Surface meaningful and untold examples of how our communities support each others social and emotional wellbeing;

  • Contribute to the transfer of storytelling skills across the unique and powerful mediums that exist within our communities; and

  • Contribute to a shift in how and by whom stories about our communities are told.
